Blog: 3 Easy ways to Improve your Game

Players are always looking for ways to improve. I know that when I played, I always tried to do little things to improve every day. Now, the obvious answer is practice, practice makes perfect, right? Well, yes, but there are other ways to improve on the little things that do not take much effort and are easy to fit into everyday activities.

1. Watch soccer.

I will say it once and I will say it again. WATCH HIGH-LEVEL SOCCER! I tell this to all of my teams and all of the players I train with. Watching soccer that is at a higher level than you are playing is one of the easiest ways to improve. Watching high-level soccer, especially at the professional level, will help you understand the game in a new way and teach you things that you can’t learn without seeing it.

2. Play.

Now this one seems obvious, right? You can’t improve on something without doing it. But by this, I mean playing soccer outside of your team's training and games. Train on your own or with a partner, dribble a ball around with you at all times, juggle, show up early to practice, and stay late, the little things are how we improve.

3. Ask questions.

I know that it can be embarrassing to always be the one asking questions, but that is one of the best ways to learn and improve your game. Ask your coach what you can do better, ask your teammates how you can be a better teammate, and ask your parents if they noticed anything during your game or practice that you could improve on. Realizing and understanding what your weaknesses are and how you can improve on them is a huge step on the path to improvement.
